back issue and current update from 1107-1117

This morning I went for Esoterism regular meeting – my second time to the meeting and to breathe the air 2 founder and one strategic planner did, this is what I found:
1. CEO is not running the meeting, or not prepare to run a meeting, maybe free style is the style , but it worried me that if they are playing with other people’s money.
2. Design and production head have problem with marketing / sales head – the 2 founders don’t have alignment in product roadmap and the forecast of the business.
3. No set of priorities along with the strategic planning or resource deployment, the money is here, maybe they are not aware of the new responsibility is at hand right now. Or I am over concern?
4. Organization development along with the product and business forecast. Another issue these guys need to figure it out as soon as possible.
I need 4 more weeks to see the quality of this team, and to get to know what’s in Steve’s mind – it seems to me he is communicate between 2 founders but reluctant to spend more time on this company. If Steve left, then what will happen next?
Maggie Shu called me up while I check in Bund on the riverside hotel this afternoon, Maggie told me Denis Handlin is or will be in Taiwan for the search – for next man running greater china for Sony Music, I have the passion to explore before, but when thinking it over and over, I can’t answer 2 question below :
1. Why I leave Music industry in 2000?
2. What value I can bring to Sony Music Greater China today?
If I don’t have a clear why and why not, it won’t be a good game for everybody.

Wake up by 8:00 am, neither early nor late, as I am taking the sick compensation rest – a comfort to myself, so, feeling less guilty not to take exercise in the morning or make a change of wake up earlier.
When receive Rayne’s mail about copy Jack on the meeting note, I can sense the Esoterism development will be a tough road, maybe Rayne is a micro-management style person, but to have Jack to perform the role in scrutinize the company which he took the majority share. Again, what worried me is : founder will then transform themselves to worker / employee, losing of entrepreneur momentum will be a lose-lose game. How I may change it? Or in what role I should actively involve. Will my consultant fees lead Rayne to a “split the pie with management team together “ and ask Jack to reach his hand deeper in the new start up? I am not sure, but since I am now involved, the only way to go is up – helping the company to achieve what it claim to be. With milestone set and with contingency plan in place – just as what I share with Meiling – to be the marriage broken is not a good job, once the couple develops unhealthy relationship, you will be point finger. Same as the investing broker – you say and draw a picture to invite others, and then the thing turn to a non-controllable stage, and you know it happened all the time. What can we do different to win the war in the brand / design initiative?
Finally get my China mobile credit up to 300 RMB, its quite simply, but you never try so you never know. Fooled by the 2nd floor service even thought I am having cold still.
Stone is playing with me? Why have Sonia send me mail and then drop the line and play the ugly game. The lesson take, don’t play the old scrip every time.
Complete terminate CDY event is a great thing, own nothing to no one, I should not take extra responsibility as this moment of time. Yes, need to ignite myself and finding the fire inside. Believe in executive development, then follow your heart and become the master of what you believe, there’s no short cut, so.. do it one step a time and do it from now on.
It’s chilly in Shanghai now, people wears light jacket and the rain falls, stay in my suit and finish my blog – a way of reflect and digest what went wrong and what need to be remembered. Time to work on the project now.

Beijing Mandarin Forum pilot meeting is an unique experience, I wasn't sure if my contribution mean anything to Lucy double. Randy, Monita and Robert, but I am pretty sure this is a right thing to do. no matter how the outcome will be, this probabely will be the most desplice governed Forum in China.
Attending Esoterism weekly meeting yesterday, I had a sense that Ryne will be there, suprising on his birthday he show up for this very minor investment.. and I sense the uncomforable ambience floating arond, this is a scurnitize management meeting and the majority shareholder and Chairman is action on his interest. I am not sure if the so call : Creative and Innovation driven funders will be happy with what they see. I throw out one question -- how we going to raise next fund? what value we will bring to next potencial investor and current shareholders? why saying so, not because I am passimistic about the business performance, but I am aware of if the funder and management team didn't pay attention to the P and L, then the money needed will come before burning out Ryne's 15 millions NT investment. Steve is in charge of strategy, admi and finance, he should be very clear about what's going on here.
Doing my first interveiw anchor to NEW Wide yesterday in the afternoon. for Sunny - Executive Director and Agenla Chuang - Preseident and mother who run the diaring operation for New Wide. this inverview is for prepare the Chang Chew Team Building materia and to get the " Focus Question " before the date: Nov. 24th. Angela share with me more than I expect , she cadid share me how she see the managment team in Chun Chew and her concerns:
- Factory Chief is not ambitious to deal with challenge or difficulty, and sometimes to costmetic the data - this is not the way Miss Chuang want to see.
--New Factory chief on board for less than 6 months, Angela think he is not qualify to manage the entire factory as too conservertive and square to what he only see, not bold or with vision to handle this new and revolutionary line
-- Direcot Ho - the promising talent is the one who should be futher developed and to Angela , his performance and capability is better than VP in the company.
-- MA - Manager assistant - new blood and young talent is what New Wide play high hope with, how to nurture them and keep the high energy
Sunny have a 7 years brain power giant project in 2012. quite interesting... and he profile the talent New Wide need:
1. Profession driver - no oral or written, but to walk the talk
2. Believe in corporate culture - Sharing and Honest, sharing in 3 direction : Profit / Experience / Knowledge
3. Team player : know how to work with others

YPO Taipei resume the new member fundemenal workshop on 22nd. it gave me new assignment and income, contact Allen of EO, it seems the project is alive still, Dec or Jan 2012.

Cancle Meiling's Warsaw trip with me, I will focus on the training and developing the connection with other facilitators.. question, how to handle Angla Fan? interesting.
