How to publish something utilize current and future technology

I am thinking to publish my " somethings " but reluctant to follow the old school way : find a publisher house - visit editor - a physical book - book promo tour - end of book cycle .

What can be done today ? A breakthrough to make the publisher - eeceiver gain more value - by utilize what technology can do today and tomorrow ?

I can't figure it out by myself - need some brains ...
