The Why : Harry's forum invite me to forum training in May : first TPO forum seeking growth in forum .
Take Away : Openness is an issue from the senior forum : open mind before open heart , open heart trigger we to take risk.bb
Feeling & Emotion : acceptance and recognize is key to horizontal relationship , I am feeling blessed and living it now .
DUI#13
The Things :
1. On the Train from 台東 to 花蓮 in the morning .
The Why: first time to flip
reading a book and finishing
「雍正皇帝」in 90 minutes
Without feeling guilty .
2. Waiting for connecting train in 花蓮 back to Taipei and the window is 10 hours . No other transportation vehicle in between .
Take Away:
1. if you don't obtain value from the book / visual / people , flip it , we don't need to read everything from word to word.
2. Manage a one man wondering at 花蓮 : little cafe , narrow ally and easy people .
Feeling & Emotion : lonely and solitude is different . / Read it All don't equal to Known it All.
DUI#14:
The Things : 經理人月刋 interviewing session
The Why: it's been decade since my last media interview as no reasons for media exposure .
Take Away : 「才能飛 」is the theme behind interview but we go over how a professional manager transform to this role
And we agreed upon psychology and philosophy should be the back-bone for mature leaders
Feeling & Emotion : People's story and telling story is more powerful than what you do.
DUI#15
The Things : session with Jennifer Chang on 360 degree feedback .
The Why : in order to complete my one side observation , I need other key stakeholders eyes on my coachee .
Take Away :
1. Provide safe place , create trust space.
2. It's always a bless to be trusted.
3. Learning from sharing as long as you perform active and empathy listening
Feeling & Emotion : never take advantage of trust and don't let friendship ruining judgement .
DUI#16:
The Things : reluctant to take on a pre-coaching assessments as no consensus between me and client
The Why : client expect coach deliver as consultant and my experience taught me to untie the situation we should start from relationship management .
Take Aways: right approach : aware of self - esteem to build confidence before baby step success . To communicate with one person first and win his / her heart is essential .
Feeling and Emotion : generation coaching depend more on emotion than rationale . You have to take side work one party and be a bias supporter .
DUI#17:
The Things : begin my " games of throne seasons 5 " today with my wife .
The Why: enjoy first 4 seasons but didn't catch up for 5 . Bought boxset of seasons 5 and done 6 episode by now.
Take Away: this is the only TV movie I follows and it's a perfect story not only illustrate what happen before but closely reflect to our world today . I amazed by how the story develops and how human can be so complicated to secure / hold / grab power.
Feeling & Emotion :
1. do I live in my own world and see every person perform noting but goodness ?
2. Chose to be simple , lead to happier life

The Things : Last episode on season 5 of " Games of Thrones "

The Why : John Snow - Commander of " Night Watcher " who guard on the Far North protect 7 Nations was murdered by fellow night watchers .

Take Away : no matter you act on good or bad intention , the consequence won't follow the rule of " Good man live , Bad guy punished "

Feeling & Emotion : fragile : as drama and myth reflect on human nature with a metaphor approach . Don't know what in front us is mirror or window ?
DUI# 19:
The Things :
introduce prospective to Sea Dragon Chapter in Shanghai
The Why :
the test of commitment is to see if anyone can set this session a priority in there busy life .
The Takeaway :
1. highly commitment derive from no hidden agenda , no expectation and no purpose attached .
2. It's difficult to make new friends at our age , even harder to render our trust in the first place . Build a safe space is essential .
Feeling & Emotion :
Willing to listen and active listing is a gift on every communication .
DUI#20:
The Things: I am in tears at the pre coaching assessment with A father who founded the company and try to build the consensus in succession plan.

The Way : I feel the love a father devoted to his only daughter and the delima between the company I build and the child I raised .

The Take Away:
1. Every succession plan is an unique development , none of the existing case can reproduce same process and result .
2. Only fully participant with client and inclusive in the relationship , you can build the case .
F & E: love is the answer and unconditional love rare to see .
DUI#21:
The Things : make a lunch appointment with my daughter

The Why : haven't done father / daughter meal for many months , conflict of schedule refrain me from knowing her more .

Take Aways :
1. a warm acceptance from her and reconnects to intimacy .
2. Remind yourself what you remind others to perform .

F & E : reaching out and you gain more . Nature happiness
DUI#22:
The Things : revise budget review for one client and surface the conflict with management team.

The Why: a coach / consultant can only perform his role but not responsible for delivery and outcome , the dilemma and caught up in between become a test of credit .

Take Away : driver and passenger perform varies role . If you ask passenger be your GPS , be sure to tell him not to overtaking your handler unless you prefer to drive in the dark.

F&E : you see the train is coming , jump immediately or wake up people in the same cabin first even it will jeopardize your life?
DUI#23:
The Things: Day trip with wife to 法鼓山農禪寺 / 水鳥公園 / 漁人碼頭。

The Way: My mother in law wasn't well last night , take her out to places for relax and relief.

Take Away:
1. Companion is caring ,you don't need to talk or do more.
2. Walking alone fisherman wraf , enjoy moment of now.

F & E: gratitude grow when care and accompany .

The Why : trigger by " from zen to rocking roll " which Steve leave a music note signature at the backboard at Cloud Gate- adapt the idea and come up with a " music note on T-shirt " idea : Sky Wu will compose Talents Fly jingle T - Shirt .

Take Away :
1. Seeing and hearing - wearing your voice from inside to outside .
2. Visualize your creativity taught by Steve and adapt in real case.

The Things : sitting on day at NTU 洪健全紀念廳 as observer for a coming session with Professor JR Lee.

The Why : before my session schedule on June 17, I capture the chance to see the 100 attendee from 4 companies who sign up professor Lee's leadership curriculum .

Take Away :
1. As student to experience how I perceive the overall setting .
2. As observer to receive the first hand experience .
3. As a co-faculty , learn and remind myself what mistake can be avoid .
F & E: exhausted and tied .

The Things: Biotech CEO sharing session

The Why : invited to join a brainstorm season with biotech CEOs in Taiwan and explore the general management and leadership mismatch the industry is missing .

The Take Away :
1. To biotech company , the only way to survivor it go intensional .
2. Definition of international for biotech firm in Taiwan : don't mean scale or brand but niche and overseas users and application .

F & E : proud of being Taiwanese and Learn the hard way to survive and sustain . Emotionally willing to grand my help . ( the forum benefit )

The Things: eating shark's fin soup during one meal.

The Why: invite to a meal , menu prepare and organized by host , didn't aware shark's fin soup on the menu . When serve , hesitate for a while but finish them in the end.

Take Away :
1. It's easy to break promise if your promise is not monitored by others .
2. You can't really reject all the seduction of desires .

F & E: guilty and regret. You need to re-count your efforts and starting it all over again .

The Things : Penang dry run with Sea Dragon Chapter

The Why : invited to conduct hero's journey program to chapter retreat in July . At the same time connect with my regional forum meetings .

Take Away :
1. Delay of China Airline leave me plenty of time to finish my Regent Hotel Group workshop material.
2. The Penang scene reflect to an old Chinese town . Nostalgia ambience flows.

F & E : Chinese : mix feeling ; overseas Chinese : complex feelings .

DUI#28:
The Things : try durian the first time in my life .

The Why: dry run to Durian Farm and experience my virgin trial to durian at north Penang .

Take Away :
1. Out of the comfort zone is what I taught other, when it come up to you , you demo and model the way .
2. Durian farm owner sharing what make his durian differ from other farmer : guiding durian lover to appreciate 5 different tastes of durian : the sweet ; bitter ; wine flavor ; fruit flavor and sting ( when falling within one hour from the tree )
3. Leverage trip advisor : even a mountain durian farm can attract tourist all over the world .

F & E : innovation happen across industry ; paradigm shift not limit to savvy business man .

The Things : experience my regional forum at Penang.

The Why : it takes 15 minutes to adjust air-con in the meeting venue when everyone feel the different comfort level of temperature .

Take Away :
1. Shift my commitment from forever to now - a zen status.
2. Aware acceptance of difficulty is a higher skill instead of allowing difference .
3. The senior in age , the harder to strict on discipline .
F & E : how to end your forum journey is an open question.

The Things : on a confidential binding session . How to express ?

The Why : whole day forum meeting and done 4 presentations . Tire , exhausted and mix feeling .

Take Away :
1. Crisis grows sense of intimacy .
2. Sharing stage 1 : only Yes & No change our life , Maybe never will .
3. Stage 2 : if Yes . Ask yourself How ? If No. Ask yourself Why ?

F & E : business and relationship can't be park . You and me always a gap .

The Things : Excuse Me , Wendy .

The Why : urge to check out by 12:00 due to full house even was inform and confirm a late check out by 3:00 pm. My emotion raised as this is not a good way to treat potential repeat customer .

Take Away:
1. You don't have second chance to make first impression : new customer and now customer should be your focal point .
2. Polite and courtesy should be carry out as service principal not a lip service
3. Loose a potential customer by ignoring the feeling of respect .

F & E: upset and annoy. Told me self never come back again

The Things: going to 2nd run movie with wife .

The Why : it's a routine with Meiling when retuning from overseas trip , no matter we enjoy the film or not . Sitting together is the moment.

Take Away:
1. How to be single is one of the 2 movies we went , it's a serious topic even director make it a comedy .
2. If recall my flying back on the plane , 20 minutes before landing , I had nothing on hand to read and feeling uncomfortable . Being with oneself is a serious matter .
F & E : campaign and accompany is love , without saying a word .

The Things : invite to moderate a TPO senior forum

The Why : leaving home is the beginning of change ; going home is another - chance to moderate - coaching senior is a " home coming " experience .

Take Away :
1. As long as you follow forum protocol ( confidentiality / trust / openness ) and perform empathy listening . Magic happens .
2. Changes come when people willing to be better .

F & E : blessed to reconnect with senior in a safe environment . Enrich life .

The Things : morning time in National Library - Audio / Video branch house .

The Why : reading half of Vincent Ven Gogh's story and learn the life of a genius not been appreciate at his time of life - and incedentally find my books on the library bookshelf . That was published 20 years ago .

Take Away :
1. Leave a legacy in Chinese way is : ethical ; contribution and words of wisdom ; ( 立德；立功；立言）, thinking of writing another book with title " making friend " in mind .
2. Artist is true human , how to learn from them and balancing the material world keep me thinking .
F &E : when I was young . And the dream I have still ..

The Way : review a young film director's proposal on his micro-movie movie fund raising plan.

The Why : his company is in a lower level of the film Eco system and restrict him from produce film according to his passion and dream . I was asked to advice on his plan .

Take Away :
1. Blur biz model and non - related to the social / economy need cause me wondering what in the world people willing put money and bet on him ?
2. To sell a dream , you must equip with robust idea and can be examine by key stakeholders , if not , proof it with you money before pouring others.
3. Lengthy plan is to educate people , a good plan not necessary lengthy but clear for align with investor's need and want.
F & E : spend time wisely , making move smartly and keep your passion in right tract ..

DUI#35
The things : attending formal trained corporate forum members reunion dinner as guest .

The Why : even the corporate forum official workshop program terminated 2 years ago , the forum remain alive and I am invited to share my traveling workshop experience with them .

Take Away :
1. Once connection and trust build , you are easier to ignite passion with fellow forum mate .
2. Since you are no longer retain by the Corp , you have to be even prudent on the confidentiality sensibility.

F & E : forum survive as long as people willing to keep high commitment but confidentiality is for life .
DUI#36:
The Things : met with formal So-net COO and late CEO of 樂天 Taiwan.

The Why : a formal colleague and friend from Japan who support me to build So-net Taiwan who recently resign from 樂天 and ask if I may share my experiences and help him to become a better consultant

Take Away :
1. Been trust to grant my experience is a better way to return favor for those who help you in your life .
2. His feedback encourage me a lot : to validate what I love to do now : coach .
3. Admire his willingness to follow his bliss .

F & E : I am thrilled to be embrace again and offer what I love to the one who help me before .

The Things: going to 2 movies " Florence Froster Jennings " and " The Man who know infinity "

The Why : Movie always been a big part in my life . 2 hours to experience a story , especially these 2 movies were " based on true event "

Take Away:
1. Florence : " you can say I couldn't sing , but You can't say I didn't do it " - no matter how people mocking , follow your bliss.
2. Infinity : " equation means nothing it it's not the words from God " - be humble alway no matter how genius you are .

F & E : inspired by true people and story . Ignite oneself to write story of your own .

The Thing: Sound ( my son ) brought 3 or his schoolmate back and stayed overnight at our house .

The Why : Univesity kids have independent thoughts and Sound want to be a good host . Accidentally , they broke one my of porcelain collection in living room ..

Take Away :
1. Make to be broken - if it's not on your hand . Will be done by someone else , don't cry over spoiled milk .
2. Collectible is a strange term , it's better take it a " appreciated , enjoyable , pleasure " sore of intangible measurement .

F & E : lost of something even you don't really touch it every day . Am I over taken my living space by things I don't really need?

DUI#38
The Thing : wife away for a week.
The why : mother in law wasn't feeling well , Meiling ask me if she can go home and stay with her for a week . Still in Taiwan through.
Take Away :
1. keep silent with my wife and knowing she is in town ain't easy - from interdependent to independent is a lesson to learn .
2. Take me as an example : my traveling and keep her alone become a nature . I take it as granted , but to take an opposite position . Feeling changed .
3. Learn how to be along and dialogue with yourself - a lifelong learning .
F & E : be previous with what you have now and always take a priority look at this angle .

DUI#39:
The things : experience a new second run movie theater downtown and capture a great film " Colonia "

The Why : try go to second movie by myself and explore an extraordinary film " Colonia " inspired by a true event occurs in the 70s in Chile - South America . A cult and Alcatraz like camp build in the 70s to prison dissident . Only 5 of the captures escape , 2 lover from Germany for the love developing a escape plan and shock the outside world .

Take Away : people die for their country ( ideology ) and love ( human nature ) . People must have a reason to fight and pick the fight worth fighting for . If business world is another battle field - how we choose the right war to fight for ?

F & E : as a peace believer , war never be a nice picture to me . Someday if I am in the right place . Would urge UN replace peace keeper to peace maker .
